Roshanna Toya
Roshanna Roshanna K. Toya, a tribal member of the Pueblo of Isleta, has served tribal communities and tribal people for many years in different capacities. Roshanna has served the Isleta Appellate Court as an Associate Justice since 2013, gaining the confidence of her Pueblo’s tribal council and community.

Roshanna earned her Juris Doctorate from University of New Mexico School of Law in 2019, where she received the Clinical Honors Award for her work in the Southwest Indian Law Clinic, and the Dean’s Award for significant contribution to the law school community. Roshanna also served as Co-Editor in Chief of the Tribal Law Journal.

Roshanna joined the Firm after clerking for two years for the New Mexico Court of Appeals where she conducted in depth legal research and drafted judicial opinions on complex questions in all areas of criminal and civil law. Roshanna’s practice areas include Federal Indian law, tribal law, and litigation. In addition to serving on the Isleta Appellate Court, Roshanna is a member of the New Mexico Bar and recently sat for the Navajo Nation Bar exam.

Roshanna is active in community service, having served as the President of the New Mexico Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She is also an active Board Member of the NM Juvenile Justice Advisory Commission, the PLSI Judicial Clerkship Committee, and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Task Force on Research on Violence Against American Indian and Alaska Native Women.

Roshanna also holds M.S. degrees in both Criminal Justice and Social Work.
